California Electrician Continuing Education CE Courses

The current certification law was passed in 2001 and requires all electricians who work for C-10 Contractors and who make connections of greater than 100 volt amps to be certified by the state. To become certified, an electrician must pass a certification examination and have the required experience  between 4,000 and 8,000 hours of work, depending on the certification.

Certification expires three years from its effective date. In order to renew, a certified electrician must work 2,000 hours in the industry and take 32 hours of continuing education.

If you are not currently certified and you are found working, you will be prohibited from taking the test for certification for a period of five years. If your certification is fraudulent, it will be suspended or revoked.
